10 men defeated the fartsack on Friday, Aug. 4, entering the gloom to take part in the Tectonic Relays. What are the Tectonic Relays? Well, I’m glad you asked.

We were better than this. Slightly better.

Count off by 1s and 2s to create two teams, and let the games begin!
Relay 1: Each PAX from each team bear crawls 25 yards and back, one at a time. Next PAX goes when first PAX gets back. You know, like a relay. Hold low plank before it’s your turn to crawl, high plank on return. Team 1 won this round.
Relay 2: Crab walk down, reverse crab walk back. High/low plank like before. Dead-on-balls tie between the two teams.
Relay 3: Broad jump down and back. Hold Al Gore before and after your turn. Team 2 wins.
Relay 4: Wheelbarrow down and back. PAX 1 wheelbarrows down and back with PAX 2 holding feet. Then PAX 2 wheelbarrows with PAX 3 holding feet, etc. PAX 1 holds feet for final PAX to race. Team 2 wins. Q decides that round 2 tie goes to team 1, creating high-drama, winner-takes-all round 5 tie-breaker.
Relay 5: Sprint down and back, stopping at far end for 5 burpees. Team 1 wins.
Since it pays to be a winner, Team 2 fireman carries Team 1 50 or so yards along the sidewalk. Since it’s modern ‘Merica and everyone’s a winner, Team 1 fireman carries Team 2 back. Return to flag for Mary.
