Preamble: the Creek is Goose Creek’s running AO. Lately it has also become a GoRuck training day for the upcoming Charleston HTL. Stringbean has a couple of guys coming out regularly for early morning training. The more the merrier. I guess I should have him write half of this backblast. I have no idea what those fellows did, but they showed up for the BOM so I counted them!
FNG’s: None, but the disclaimer was given anyway
COP: Stretch if you arrived early.
The Thang: The Big Loop!!!! Ruckers, you do whatever it is you do.
YHC asked the PAX to split into two groups. 10+ mile pace and 10- mile pace. This had Flamingo and Mack heading out in the 10+ group and Weewoo and I doing a loop around the pond first and then a little cat and MOUSE. We would see if we could catch those fellows. We ended up running a good 2 miles before we ever caught them. I was impressed at the end that Flamingo and Mack were virtually right behind us. What a spectacular morning it was.
There was no Mary
Pledge/Prayer/Devo. YHC was remiss and did not have a devo prepared (for the first time in a long time). Sophia was ready to step up with some good words from the book of Matthew Chapter 16 verse 18. “ And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock[a] I will build my church, and the gates of hell[b] shall not prevail against it”. Sophia shared some of his own thoughts and experiences on the meaning of that verse to him. The gates of hell are a defensive position, but even in a defensive position we must be strong leaders to fight against the work of our enemy in our lives. Thank you for the good words Sophia and for stepping up for YHC when I didn’t have something ready.
