5 Men showed up in the gloom for the Memorial Day beat down at Tectonic. A morning where it would have been much easier to just roll over in bed, make an excuse about the conditions and claim “I aint workin out in that crap” These men made the decision to do the harder thing and post for a tough workout (promised ahead of time to be an extra 15 minutes) while honoring those that have served for our country.

Conditions: Monsoon that happened to let up on us a little during the middle of the workout. HUMID

Disclaimer

Secondary Disclaimer: probably adjusting Q on the fly a little, bare with me.

COT

Intro with a more comical remembrance of a favorite veteran with reference to Forrest Gump

Lieutenant Dan series 1-10 (1 squat, 1 lunge ea leg. +1 each round until doing 10 ea)

Mosey to well-known Tectonic Triangle

Intro to meaning of choosing this area for the morning. During the suffering of Lt. Dan series, YHC was frantically trying to wrap my head around how to adjust from initial plan. Focusing on the purpose of the morning and Holiday helped me out. When a soldier is laid to rest, many times, the only item left for the family to remember them by is a traditionally folded American Flag honoring their service to their country. This triangle is the closest we can get to that honor this morning, so we’ll spend the rest of our time honoring the folded flag given in memory of a soldier.

Modified Murph (intro to “Murph” workout background)

Run across to stop sign, 10 Burpees

Run down to tip of triangle, 20 Merkins

Run back to starting point, 30 Squats

Plank / recover for the 6

5 count for recover (3 10 count recovers after lap 5 completed) Devo mixed in during one of recovers “All gave some, some gave all” push yourself, let’s go

x 10

Recover to flag

Pledge (in tight together)

COT / BOM

Extended devo: Remember that it’s not just the soldier who sacrificed for our country. Remember the families affected as well.
