Today we decided to do something different at The Creek. We showed up and we ran.
Okay so it wasn’t different. But it’s a running AO. What do you expect.
Somewhere in mile #2 one of God’s slithery creatures decided to pay us a visit. Despite the jumps and squeals the pax bravely soldiered on and completed 4 miles as a group.

Announcements: Hurricane Hike this Saturday, Run for Doug this Saturday, shoe drive continues through the end of the month
Devo: Thursday was supposed to be the departure for the Men’s Hike for many F3 brothers. Months have gone into planning the trails, sites, water sources, etc. We were all set to go.
Then God decided to throw us a little bit of a money wrench. This time in the form of Hurricane Michael. Leadership gathered and decided for the safety of the men to postpone the hike until Friday.
As men, we often feel like we have it all under control. We plan and plan. We prepare. We’re ready to go. Sometimes YHC needs a reminder from God who is really in control. I can do all the planning I want to, but God can take control of any situation and send it spinning. Then it’s up to us how we react and respond.
Olaf pointed out that Training Wheels, our fearless hike leader, told us “this isn’t a setback, it’s a setup.” Great attitude to have when God chooses to have a little fun.
Moleskin: To be honest, YHC really didn’t want to run this morning. The beginnings of Michael were setting in on us. It had been pouring all night. This was a situation where I typically would have fart sacked big time. But since I had signed on for the Q, I didn’t really have a choice. But I just needed a little lightening so I could cancel.
Then Weewoo went and invited a couple of FNGs. Those guys aren’t on the page so I at least have to go meet them.
I texted my carpool buddy, Olaf, hoping for a negative response. Instead I got a quick “m” response followed by “let me know when you’re out front and I’ll sprint out.” We rode together and i think we were both really hoping to see no one when we arrived.
Mack was already there and already had the shovel flag set up.
All right, let’s do this.
Men, there’s a reason we call it doing the hard thing. Some days more than others it’s just hard to find the motivation. But we often motivated through each other’s devotion. This was one of the days for YHC. And I’m thankful for the daily push.
