Intro: Thanks to City Slicker’s mid-Liquifaction text Thursday night, YHC fulfilled his Q duty this morning. Run 22 minutes out and 22 minutes back. 12 guys in all moved their bodies – several came early for extra miles and several stayed late for extra miles. *Be sure to ask Snowden about his limo rental fiasco.

Warmup: Nope.

Thang: We ran.

Mary: Never.

Pledge, Announcements, Prayer Requests: Kinda.

BOM: Yes.

Devo: Most runners I know are introspective, deep thinkers. This morning, Snowden helped me think through a half-baked devo about the significance and the power of a name. A name is the first thing our parents hang on us, usually before we are even born, and it’s the moniker by which the world knows us forever thereafter. In F3, we do serious mental gymnastics pinning names on FNG’s, and as goofy as the names are, they become our identity in the F3 world. Can you imagine any of the above listed PAX as anything other than Pretzel, City Slicker, The Colonel, Borland, Snowden, Peg, Hollywood, Space Cowboy (you sexy beast), Bueller, Matlock, or the legendary Old Flame? Adam knew the power of a name – he named all of the animals, he even named his wife. I guess he got tired of saying, “Hey you.” If our names carry such weight and significance, how much more powerful is God’s name and His Son’s name when spoken out loud? He knows our needs before we even speak them, but evoking His name makes it a personal plea, a personal conversation, a personal relationship. Most successful prayers don’t start with, “Hey You.”
