Mental Battle WOD 2022

Each set will have stats about mental health and workplace mental health.  The workout will be in the form of a Dora 123.  As you are working with a partner (No OYO), each stat is doubled.  After all three sets are complete, if you have time repeat sets until time is up.

Round 1

  • 50,000,000 adult Americans experienced mental illness in 2019.
  • 56% of employees spend time looking for another job.
  • 27,000,000 Americans with mental illness are unable to receive treatment.

100 Lunges / Lunge-Curls
112 Merkins / Chest presses
54 Squats / Goblet squats

Round 2

  • 60% of employees do not feel their management helps them to deal with stress.
  • 33% of employees can’t afford their healthcare costs.
  • 80% of employees reported feeling emotionally drained by their work.

120 Calf Raises / Calf Raises with kettle bell
66 Lunges / Lunge Passthroughs
160 Moroccan Night Clubs / Tricep Extension

  • 65% of employees find it hard to concentrate at work due the environment at work.
  • Over 60% of youth with mental illness do not receive treatment.
  • Over 60% of employees feel they don’t get paid enough to save for an emergency fund.

130 LBCs
120 Box Cutters
120 Flutters

A few things to leave you with:

Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in America.

22 veterans commit suicide EVERY DAY.

I hope you’ll have some time to share among the Pax your mental battles or those of people around you, either during the workout or after.  This is honestly more important than the workout.

Again, please reach out for help if you need help.

If you or someone you know needs immediate help, please reach out to 800-273-8255.

COP:  SSH x20 IC, DQ x10 IC, IW x10 IC, LBAC Fwd & back x10 each IC, Overhead Claps x10 IC

The Thang:

We grabbed some bricks to run around the block for a 7 of diamonds routine. We ran with bricks the entire time. Each lap we did one of the exercises at all 4 corners.

Lap 1: Should tap merkins, with the bricks x7 IC

Lap 2: Pickle pushers while simultaneously doing bat wings with the bricks x14 IC

Lap 3: 100’s with the bricks! Though we only did 30, 40, 50, and 60

Mary: Low plank leg lifts x10 IC, The stapler w/ each leg x10 IC, Jim Braddocks x10 IC

Devo: None

Moleskin: Again, the Pax complained tremendously about the core work, but no one seems to understand, I’m trying to build some hard bodies guys! Spring is almost here, you gotta look good on your boats, or at the beach boiiiiiiii! We discussed “perceived safety” of cars rolling by, and some experiences I had on my motorcycle over the weekend involving perceived safety and two dumbass teenage kids on razor scooters. ACDC left after the workout with out saying goodbye, and that was hurtful.

COP:  SSH x20 IC, DQ x10 IC, IW x10 IC, LBAC Fwd & back x10 each IC, Overhead Claps x10 IC

The Thang:

The Pax did a Billy Madison routine with Core Exercises only. We made it all the way to 9th grade. The exercises were as follows….

WWI sit ups x10, Pickle Pounders x10, Oblique Crunches w/ the block x10 each side, Flutter Kicks x10 IC, Mactire Jai’s x10 IC, Das Berserker x10 IC, Superman x10 IC, Ironman x10 IC, Mango Twist x10 IC

Mary: Denise Austin x30 IC, back stretch

Devo: With such nice weather on tap for the weekend, the Q encouraged the Pax to enjoy some time outside, and do something nice for somebody. Doesn’t matter who, just do something nice for another person.

Moleskin:   We started out on the concrete at Tectonic, but the Pax complained about ass raspberries, so the Q moved everyone to the grass, around the flag. There was also complaints about having to turn over and get up and down so much, but the Q pretty much ignored those. Everyone spent ample time looking at the ground to try and find Amnesia’s wedding ring, but no such luck. Conversation was pretty light. Coffee followed the workout at Coastal Coffee where we found High Stick. Pretzel and myself left early to attend the Summerville Cars and Coffee show with our German machines.

Devo: Romans 8:37-39 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

We’re not meant to go through life alone. Keep pushing forward and ask a brother to help you when you stumble.

Cold Cut went on to discuss we need to be cognizant of the difference between beliefs and faith. This is also a theme that Dredd is exploring with The Minivan Centurion.

”

Who is the Minivan Centurion?

He is not simply a husband, father and good neighbor, although he is all of those things.

He is also the coarse twine that holds the fabric of our community together, fighting to keep us united in the face of those who would split us apart. Most importantly, the Minivan Centurion is the special trustee of the legacy of liberty which has been passed through generations of tired and bloody hands from the original men who first founded and then fought to build this nation.

The Minivan Centurion may be you.”

https://www.collisionlearner.com/minivan-centurion

Moleskin: Great to have Peaches with us in the Gloom. He is a true inspiration to us all with the fact he constantly punches excuses in the face. Cold Cut gave some great insight regarding resilience. It is definitely something to explore further. Perhaps he can delve deeper into this at The Guild.

The Inferno Takes Your Soul

  • When: 20210816
  • QIC: Woody
  • The PAX: Woody, Cold Cut, Major Dad, Mircrowave, Grits, Amnesia

2021-08-17 by Woody Leave a Comment

Weather:  75 Degrees 100% Humidity – THE INFERNO

Count:  6

COP:  SSH x 10 IC; Inferno Walk Through

The Thang:  The Inferno – The Ultimate Monthly Fitness Test.  Members of the PAX Complete a circuit of nine exercises consisting of Burpees, Oyster Table Pull Ups, WWI Sit-ups, Jump Squats, Carolina Dry Docks, Monkey Humpers, American Hammers, Mountain Climbers and Flutter Kicks.  The mode of transportation between each exercise station follows the sequence of bear crawl, crab crawl, lunge walk.  At the completion of the flutter kicks you run around the farm house returning to the Burpee station.  Rinse and repeat for 35 minutes.  The first round starts with 20 reps per exercise.  Each subsequent round the number of reps reduces by one.  All exercises are single count with the exception of American Hammers, Mountain Climbers and Flutter Kicks which are four count exercises.  Each PAX measures itself based on the number of complete cycles and exercises within the cycle.  For example if you complete two rounds and are working on your 18 burpees when time expires you would score a 2.0.  If you completed those burpees and were working on your pull-ups your score would be a 2.1.  Each exercise within the round is worth a .1.  Trust me – getting that  .1 at the Burpee station is a life changing event!

Mary:  No time.

Announcements, Pledge, Prayer

Mumble Chatter:  Six men showed up to face The Inferno in weather that was fitting for the name.  The humidity was excruciating and for a minute YHC truly believed The Inferno Took My Soul.  Amnesia popped his Inferno Cherry.  Major Dad acted as his wellness coach consistently instructing him on proper form for the various positions and reminding him to pace himself so he wouldn’t climax too soon as the sweat beaded up for another round of Monkey Humpers.  Amnesia, this may be something you want to remember/forget.  The choice is yours.  Grits came out one year later to see if his E2M lifestyle and running addiction would pay dividends against The Inferno – You bet your burpee ass it did!  So what were the August Inferno scores you ask:  Woody 3.3, Cold Cut 3.3, Amnesia 2.9, Microwave 4.2, Grits 4.0, Major Dad (Wellness Coach).  Microwave and Grits crushed the humidity like a boss.  See you next month suckers!  Woody

Namearama/Announcements/Pledge/Prayers

Naked Moleskin:  YHC was down and out the first half of the week missing F3 Monday and Wednesday.  Returning for the Q on Friday to dust off the cob webs was needed before heading out on vacation.  It was good to see Deliverance keeping the commitment – EZGO come home!  AC/DC let out a moan as if he was going into labor when YHC said grab some reflective gear.  At first YHC thought it was his lingering congestion making the string of pearls more difficult than expected until the impact of the humidity was realized by the PAX.  It was just what the Doctor ordered.  Meeting Downhill was a pleasure as well.  Deliverance had an involuntary reaction to put his hands against the parked patrol car during one of our exercise stops.  Are there some skeleton’s in that closet? Hold down the fort next week –  Woody is DR in the Mountains.

NAME THE FNG: Bob is a 22 year Marine Vet who decided he needed to get back into shape. He loves being a grandfather. The Pax landed Rebuild to help him focus on getting back to being lean and mean again.

Naked Moleskin: We had a couple of faces that hadn’t been around to Tectonic in awhile, including Myrtle and Glitter Pony (who still didn’t want to say his name). Nine men was a REALLY solid number for Tectonic. It was great to see a PAX that size. The Pax complained about the water in the big mud tires, but there really wasn’t anything they could do about it. The most interesting thing said came from Major Dad. When the Q announced the Indian Run back to the flag, Major Dad said “You can’t say that anymore. It’s offensive. It’s now called the Guardian Run.” The was in reference to the Indians Baseball team now being the Guardians.
