The Thang:

Bear Crawl 1-2-3: 100 Merkins, 200 LBCs, and 300 Squats

since we had an odd number of PAX, HYC decided to modify. we did 10 merkins together, first PAX bear crawls to first cone (cones in a triangle approx 30 feet apart), by the time he gets to the second cone, second PAX bear crawls while the first and third continue counting. We completed one triangle round with the merkins, HYC is an idiot and we did 1oo WWII situps and 100 LBCs, then finished with 3oo squats in the same fashion. It was confusing and fun all at the same time, just like your first time “learning to ride a bike”.

The Thang:

Each PAX grabs a pole of their choice, drapes it over their shoulders:

10 Squats on Q – ¼ mile mosey

Grab a different pole, because all of them weigh different weights so don’t want anyone to feel left out:

10 step ups, each leg – ¼ mile mosey

10 calf raises – ¼ mile mosey

New pole: we did one more exercise with the poles and ran another ¼ mile

Nancy Kerrigans – Lean torso forward, raise one leg out to the back, reach arms out to side and do small arm circles. IC

 Mountain Man Poopers      resembles the aftermath of eating a helping of Grandma’s squirrel gravy. 4 Count : standing position, bend over to touch toes. Step 2: Squat low, put arms straight out front. Step 3: Back to touching toes position from Step 1. Step 4: Stand Up with a single clap.

 Starfish Crunch PAX lay spread eagle on backs, feet just above ground. On count of 1, the PAX crunch at the core bringing the left leg and right arm together, On 2, return to start. On 3, crunch bringing the right leg and left arm together, on 4, return to start. Rinse and repeat many, many times.

 Copperhead Merkins Regular Merkin but lowering body slowly on first 3 counts, then lifting up on 4 count

Farmer Carry Suicides:

Placed four cones about 15 feet apart in a line. Farmer carry two blocks to second cone, sprint back to the home cone, rinse and repeat to all cones.

Bear crawl to second cone, sprint back to home cone, rinse and repeat. Some PAX had to modify to lunges on the last cone.

Moleskin: After a week of posting alone, two PAX came back to The Jones. One from Singapore, the other double-downing from his post in S’ville. This was one of my favorite workouts to date, mostly because I was able to lead two awesome dudes i respect and look up to.

  • At bleachers, run up and down, hop up and down three times. at Houdini’s building, two sets of balls to the wall (huh huh) for 20 sec.

Strength Training:

Three sets of three exercises (working different muscle groups each) followed by a lap around the track.  Repeat until the hour is up.  The last set was focused on core strength.
